With the new year right around the corner I took the time today to go through and post some photos from when Jaoa Danaikrit was staying with us in the Bay Area earlier this year. My personal favorite photo from this set is the shot of Jaoa standing next to my Dad (Wheel Talk Team Manager) after a long day at the horse races in Berkley. There’s nothing like betting on ponies, drinking dollar beers, and eating hot dogs while spending quality time with the family. The shot of everybody posted up next to the Rack Solid van was from the day we filmed the “Alameda Send Off” video of the Thai dudes last day in town. 35MM | COLE RUFFING 2014

35mm - Cole Ruffing - Foot jam - Wheel Talk - Alameda 2014

The longer you wait to develop a roll of film the more of a mystery your shots become. Here’s some 35mm photos I took of Cole Ruffing riding the elementary school in our old neighborhood earlier this year. I almost forgot about this day until I was flipping through prints at Photoworks on my ride home from work this week. Daylight savings time has barely begun and I already long for the extended hour of sunlight they’ve stolen from us. I guess we’ll have to wait until next year, when they switch back the clocks. Until then, check more 35mm photos HERE and read more below for an additional image from this roll.

MATT REYES | ALAMEDA 2014

Matt Reyes - FGFS - Fixed Gear Skid - San Francisco Skyline
Matt Reyes - FGFS - Alameda 2014 - Dock Of The Bay
Matt Reyes - FGFS - Alameda 2014 - Up Rooted Cement - BW
This was the first time I’ve been back to Alameda since we moved, and I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic as we rode through our old stomping grounds. It was nice to get outside while there was a break in the clouds and shoot some photos for a change. We’ve been getting an exceptional amount of rain here in the Bay Area, so I thought I’d take advantage of our current condition and splash around in some of the leftover puddles before it goes back to dumping buckets. Check out photos from other lazy sunday’s HERE. Photo Credit : Ramon Antonio

RAMON ANTONIO | ALAMEDA 2014

On Sunday I strapped my bike to the roof of Ramon Antonio the III’s car and hopped in as we drove across the Bay Bridge on our way to Gus & Dave’s house in Alameda. We came across this section of cement where a tree had peeled back the concrete enough to create a decent sized lip that launched you out onto the opposing sidewalk. Ramon clicked some toboggans for the camera before we headed on our way in search of other spots that had fallen through the cracks during the short time we lived there. When it comes to grinding, it’s great having people around who have different dominant sides. It opens up more spots and is a clear determining factor on who should catch the clip there. Ramon has been stacking a ton of rail shots lately and was able to add another one to that list while we were there. Be on the look out for video from this day whenever we accumulate enough for a new section.

Considering the fact that Gus Molina and Dave Beard recently moved into our old pad on the island I thought I’d introduce them to some of the spots lurking around their neighborhood. Here’s a few photos that I took of Gus as we cruised around Alameda in search of a new building to explore or a new spot to ride. We ended up finding this ledge with angle iron which Gus did a few Levitator/Butcher Grinds before getting a flat in the sea of glass surrounding it. Luckily there was a bike shop near by, so we were able to fix the flat with ease and continue on our journey. I’ve only ridden with Gus a handful of times and am stoked to have him living here in the Bay Area. Be on the look out for more photos from our lazy Sunday later this week. (12.7.14)

35MM | ALAMEDA SKATEPARK

35mm - Jaoa Danaikrit - Alameda Skatepark - Foot Jam Whip

35mm - Devon Lawson - Alameda Skatepark - TBog

If there’s one thing I miss about living in Alameda, it’s the skatepark hidden away in the abandoned military base on the island. Here’s a shot of Jaoa Danaikrit doing a foot jam whip and Devon Lawson throwing a T-Bog over the ledge splitting the fun box. It’s great having both scans and prints of these photos, to share with people not only online, but in person as well. Check out more 35mm shots HERE.

ALAMEDA SKATEPARK SEND OFF

After more than 3 months of surfing the couches at our pad in Alameda, Dew Sippawit & Jaoa Danaikrit reluctantly flew back to Thailand last month. We celebrated their final day in the States by kicking back and cutting loose at the local skatepark. A couple of dudes from San Jose drove up the day before to ride and bid the Thai boys a proper farewell. We stacked a ton of footage while they were here, and just got back from a trip to China, so keep your eyes peeled for more of Dew & Jaoa coming in the near future. Read more and check out some stills from the video below.

SEITARO IKI | LAST SESSION

Seitaro Iki better know as “Say” has been living San Francisco for the last 10 months as he studied abroad and cut loose with us. I’m sad to say that today was his last day here in the States as tomorrow he flies back to his hometown of Fukuoka Japan. We enjoyed his final hours here by doing what we always do, hanging out and occasionally try a trick or two.

MIKE SCHMITT | GAP TO WALL

Dave Beard hooked it up with this exclusive photo of Mike Schmitt blasting a gap to wallride at the Alameda Skatepark a while back. I don’t think his back tire could get much higher up on that wall. Shout out to the team for looking alive and making a quick cameo in the background. Photo Credit : Dave Beard
