With the new year right around the corner I took the time today to go through and post some photos from when Jaoa Danaikrit was staying with us in the Bay Area earlier this year. My personal favorite photo from this set is the shot of Jaoa standing next to my Dad (Wheel Talk Team Manager) after a long day at the horse races in Berkley. There’s nothing like betting on ponies, drinking dollar beers, and eating hot dogs while spending quality time with the family. The shot of everybody posted up next to the Rack Solid van was from the day we filmed the “Alameda Send Off” video of the Thai dudes last day in town. Here’s some of the few photos I took during the Harness The Gnarness Jam that happened in Oakland a couple weeks ago. I focused on shooting video over photos and was lucky enough to have dudes like Kris Fay (Lockedcog), Mike Schmitt (TURF), Alex Gonzalez, and Ramon Antonio III around to shoot alternate angles throughout the day. Instead of each putting out our own video of the jam, we decided to combine clips and make a collaborative recap of the event. Here’s a little teaser Kris made to help give you an idea of what I’m talking about. Stay tuned because later tonight We’ll be releasing the official coverage of the first ever Harness The Gnarness.

I took these photos of Devon Lawson riding his FGFS build a while ago and figured I’d post a bike check for those curious as to what he’s on. If there’s one thing I miss about living in the East Bay its the endless amount of open space and industrial places we used to ride. I’m stoked that Dave & Gus moved to Alameda. It gives us more of a reason to ride some of these run down and abandoned spots. Check out more photos and read through the parts list below.
After burning through a couple rolls of film trying to figure out how to shoot double exposures, I managed to get a few shots that I think turned out half way decent. I’m not sure if Devon Lawson has ever taken a bad picture, but these could be the best shots I’ve ever taken of him. Now that we’re all moved into our new spot in SF, I want to start bringing my Olympus OM1 out with us when we ride more often. Read more below or check out more 35mm Photos HERE.

If there’s one thing I miss about living in Alameda, it’s the skatepark hidden away in the abandoned military base on the island. Here’s a shot of Jaoa Danaikrit doing a foot jam whip and Devon Lawson throwing a T-Bog over the ledge splitting the fun box. It’s great having both scans and prints of these photos, to share with people not only online, but in person as well. Check out more 35mm shots HERE.
Every so often the dudes from San Jose come up to stay at our pad in the East Bay and ride over the weekend. Jimmy Watcha, Kent Ly, and Luciano Ortiz are just a few of the local riders from SJ that you should keep your eye on. After a long day of riding street spots in Oakland, we hit up China Town to grab some cheap grub before riding back under the bay through the Webster Tube. Check out more 35mm Photos HERE.
After nearly a year in the making and being put on the back burner in order to produce “Word Is Bond“, here’s the official video from the Wheel Talk Trip to Japan. Filmed over the course of our two week stay and was made possible because of our dudes from Fish & Chips Crew. After traveling around the Southern tip of Japan on a 9 State tour, and flying out to Tokyo to visit Marco we were only able to scratch the surface on what unreal street spots Japan had to offer. I don’t know if there’s much more I can say about this trip that I haven’t already, so press play and check out some screenshots below.

As we gear up to release the video from the Wheel Talk trip to Japan last year, I dug up a bunch of photos that were never posted. Between Seitaro Iki and myself, we shot a ton of stills and even more video. Documenting everything from our daily expeditions around whatever town we were in that day, to our nightly pit stop at Yayoiken for dinner. Keep it posted for the video release, until then check out more photographs HERE. Photo Credit : Seitaro Iki & Matt Reyes
It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since we stepped foot in Japan. After spending two weeks traveling around the Country, we had grown accustomed to drinking Hennessy with our native friends & sweating it out at the end of everyday in the unbelievably humid climate. If it wasn’t boiling hot outside, it was dumping buckets of rain. Never the less, we quickly overlooked the unfamiliar climate in awe of the unbelievable street spots Japan had to offer. The white shells on the top photo were probably my favorite slice of architecture we encountered. They’d never build something like that in California. They’re far too aware of the consequences to construct such a perfect potato chip. Big thanks to Seitaro Iki for shooting a ton of behind the scenes photos and YSO for making this all happen. Check out more photos from our 2013 trip to Japan HERE.
I came across this photo of Devon Lawson & Dew Sippawit riding in up town Oakland a couple weeks ago and thought it reminded me of a older photo we took last year. Shot out to Jaoa Danaikrit for shooting this photo, and keeping the blog up to date with content. Photo Credit : Jaoa Danaikrit
